Win 2 Tickets to The Gift at the Dow Centennial Centre Shell Theatre in Fort Saskatchewan, on April 16th!

15+ years ago, music journalist/broadcaster/promoter Peter North, and keyboardist/singer-songwriter Stewart MacDougall decided it was time to pay homage to the man who lived in the foothills of southern Alberta for almost 40 years. “The Gift: The Words and Music of Ian Tyson” is a captivating tribute to the renowned Alberta legend, featuring a core band of Tyson sidemen, and a rotating cast of the Alberta roots music community and very special guests.

This musical journey celebrates the timeless melodies and poetic lyrics that have defined Ian Tyson’s legendary career, from his signature tunes in his early recording days of the sixties with his partner Sylvia (Fricker) Tyson with “Four Strong Winds” and “Someday Soon,” to creating a legacy in the world of cowboy culture through “Navajo Rug”, “Land of Shining Mountains”, and “Eighteen Inches of Rain”. Each rendition honors Tyson’s distinctive storytelling ability and his profound connection to the landscapes and people of the Canadian West.
