-The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is investigating, after a man fell through the ice on the North Saskatchewan River while trying to get away from police yesterday morning.
Police had tried to stop a man on a bike for a bylaw infraction around 82nd Avenue and 93rd Street, but he took off into the ravine and was later spotted near the Walterdale Bridge, where he jumped onto the ice and was pulled under the water.
He hasn’t been found yet.

-A big grass fire west of Enoch forced some people to run from their homes yesterday afternoon.
It was between Highways 628 and 19 and Range Road 265, but fire crews were on top of things, and had it out by 7:30 last night.
No houses were destroyed and people were allowed to head back to their homes.

-Energy producers say they’re getting prepared for whatever wildfire season might throw at them.
NuVista Energy had to shut down facilities near Grande Prairie because of raging wildfires last year.
This year, field operators are going to use satellite images to track fires that may come too close for comfort.

-Edmonton police have arrested two 14-year old boys in connection with a series of recent unprovoked attacks on people at LRT stations.
One incident happened early on April 1st, when a 40-year old man was approached by two teenage boys and then hit in the head with a baton and violently assaulted at the Muttart Station.
He wound up in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A short time later, a 27-year old woman was kicked down the stairs by two teenage boys at the Churchill Station.
Fortunately, her injuries were minor, but while police were on site, a 32 year old man told them he’d been assaulted by two boys with a baton.
Police say they found the suspects at the Churchill Station less than an hour later.
They’re facing a list of charges, including aggravated assault.

UPDATE: RCMP SAY ALL THE FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE BEEN FOUND SAFE. RCMP SAY DUE TO PRIVACY CONCERNS, THEY ARE NOT DISCLOSING WHERE THEY WERE FOUND.
-RCMP are trying to track down a family of six that’s been missing since last month.
Three adults and three kids, all members of the Mani family, had been living around Meridian Beach in Ponoka County, and while 39-year old mother Winnie last spoke with other family members by phone on April 3rd, no one knows where any of them are.
And a vehicle belonging to Winnie was found in a parking lot in southeast Calgary on March 24th.
RCMP are concerned for the family’s well being, and think they may be in southern BC.

-Edmonton fire crews were called to the North Saskatchewan River near the Dawson dog park yesterday evening.
A dog had fallen into the water and was being pulled down stream.
Fortunately, they found the animal and got him back on shore and with his owner.

-The city of Edmonton’s new Chinatown Vibrancy Fund is now open for applications, as the program will help support community projects to improve the region.
Anyone hoping to access grant money would have to prove their idea would not only make Chinatown look better, but improve safety and security, help with economic development, enhance landmarks already in place, and celebrate Chinatown as a destination.
