Northwestern Alberta and northeastern BC have been hit hard by drought, and right in the middle of that, is the natural gas industry.

-Two Alberta Ministers aren’t impressed with today’s housing announcement from the feds.
Ottawa announced another 15-billion dollars for their apartment construction loan program, with the Prime Minister saying it should help build another 30-thousand apartments over the next ten years.
Loan terms are also being extended, while financing for seniors and student housing will be expanded.
But Social Services Minister Jason Nixon and Municipal Affairs Minister Ric McIver say Ottawa is not providing appropriate funding to Alberta for housing, and have accused them of bypassing provincial jurisdiction, by not consulting or even notifying the provinces about today’s announcement.
They feel it will make it harder and more expensive to build homes, and heavily limit the kind of homes that can be built.
And they’re still waiting for details on how the funding will be distributed.

Overall, members are getting a more than 6-percent raise, a one-time lumpsum payment of 1-thousand dollars, and a 25-earned days off option, along with other benefits.
