-Leduc RCMP have re-opened the northbound lanes of the QE-2 near GlenPark Road, as they’ve wrapped up their on-site investigation into the death of a pedestrian early this morning.
Mounties say they’re still investigating, but so far they’ve discovered that two pedestrians had been walking on Highway 2 northbound in the dark, when they were hit by two separate vehicles.
A 48-year old Edmonton man died at the scene, while a female who’s age hasn’t been released, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Even though the northbound lanes are open again, RCMP say there will be ongoing delays, so you still might want to avoid the area.

-RCMP arrested a 20-year old man from Fort Saskatchewan last week, after the vehicle he was driving was clocked doing 197km an hour on Highway 15.

-Edmonton police are hoping to get some tips from the public, after vandals went on a spree in the southeast part of the city early yesterday morning.
Officers say they were told a couple of youths had been spray-painting vehicles, fences, signs and other property around 16th Avenue and Knottwood Road West.

-The Devon Healing Medicine Grounds opened Saturday as part of Truth and Reconciliation Day.

-A Fort Kent resident says he would love to see greenhouses in every school in the Lakeland.
Bernard Chartrand says it’s important that kids understand the basics of where our food comes from, and he says hands-on experience by working in an on-site greenhouse, could be just the ticket.
The long time farmer says if schools could grow their own food, it would reduce child hunger, and have them understand the benefits of proper nutrition, in addition to understanding the concept of farming and producing what you eat.

-The people at Rig Hand Distillery say they had a fantastic turn out for the Western Canadian Chainsaw Carving championship this weekend….
The overall champion was Sam Bowser from Scotland, who’s no stranger to these events.
Rig Hand owner Geoff Stewart says the auction bids following the “fast carves” yesterday, were the highest he’s ever seen, and the winning bidders got to take those carvings home.
The money goes to support the carvers financially.
Now it’s a matter of having to rake up the sawdust and wood chips, and once there’s snow on the ground, he says they’re going to have a huge bonfire.
And it’s very possible the championship will return next year.
