This is an Alberta Emergency Alert. Yellowhead County has issued an Evacuation Order for residents south of Township Rd 560 on the East Bank Rd and west to the McLeod River.
The evacuation order area is between north of Township 554 north to Township 560 and the East Bank Road west to McLeod River.
Evacuate immediately. Call 1-833-334-4630 for assistance. Evacuee Reception Centre is at the Peers Multiplex.

Follow the directions of local authorities. Bring important documents, medication, and supplies. Take pets with you.

Everyone is being advised to take a lot of breaks if they have to be outside in the sun, and to make sure pets and kids aren’t left in closed vehicles.
-The Alberta Electric System Operator issued a grid-alert yesterday evening as the heat was putting a drain on the system.

-Thousands of flights have been delayed, major league ball games cancelled, Hamlet isn’t happening on the outdoor Broadway stage in Central Park, horses at Belmont Park are staying indoors, and the hours have been cut at the Toronto Zoo, all because of the terrible air quality in eastern Canada and some U-S states right now.
It’s from those giant wildfires in Ontario and Quebec.
The sky is orange and eerie, much like Alberta saw a few years ago when wildfire smoke rolled in from the U-S and BC.
Another interesting note is that some of the smoke is expected to make its way into Norway today.

-Strathcona County has re-issued its fire ban.
It went into effect at noon and applies to Sherwood Park and all hamlets and rural areas.
It’s because of the heat, which is drying things out again and because there’s a lot of poplar pollen in the air right now, which creates an increased risk of fire.
No outdoor fires are permitted until further notice, including burning barrels and fireworks, nor are recreational fire pits and charcoal barbecues allowed. The use of propane appliances, such as barbecues, is permitted. Fire and fireworks permits are suspended until the ban is lifted.
Residents and businesses are expected to comply with fire bans, burn permit conditions and fire bylaw. Failure may result in fines up to $2,000 as well as significant charges for the cost of response.

Nearly 200-thousand animals will be culled over the next three years in a move many say is a direct hit on agriculture, as the government has decided to mostly blame the people who produce the food we eat, for greenhouse gas emissions.
The government claims it was looking at many options.

-RCMP are warning people about a new type of scam, where criminals prey on the good nature of those wanting to help others in need.
St. Albert Mounties got a complaint from a local business about two women who’d been going up to customers, saying they didn’t have money for baby food or diapers, and asking people to buy those products for them.
Once they got the items, they would take the receipts and return the items for cash.
They’ve been targeting elderly customers, and have made thousands of dollars so far.

-One person wound up in the hospital following a crash on 118th Avenue and 156th Street yesterday evening.
Edmonton police are still investigating, but the collision appeared to involve a couple of trucks.
The injuries of the person sent to the hospital weren’t life-threatening.

Co-owner Jorgia Moore says it’s the first Ukrainian kitchen in Canada that’s entirely run by people who escaped the war in Ukraine.
