-Strathcona County RCMP are holding a news conference at 1 this afternoon, after one of their officers was killed in a collision this morning.
All that’s been said at this point is that the officer was on the way to a call when the crash happened at 2am.

-The 26-year old man who had to be rescued from the Talus Dome in Edmonton’s river valley last night has been charged with mischief.
He told fire crews that got him out of the structure that he had been climbing it, he managed to get down inside it, and then wasn’t able to get out again.
Crews had to use the Jaws of Life and other tools to free him.
Police say the man did do some damage to some of the balls when he stepped on them.

-Hydro-Quebec says some of the people who haven’t had power since that big storm hit last Thursday, may not have things turned back on again til tomorrow.
A thick coating of ice on powerlines has made repairs slow-going.
In the meantime, there have been 180 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning, because people are using fuel-burning appliances inside their homes to stay warm.

-RCMP in St. Albert are advising residents to check their mailboxes every day, especially if they’re expecting something important.
The city has seen a jump in mail thefts the past few weeks.
And that’s not all.
Mounties say they’re also getting a lot of reports about people having their vehicles broken into.
They say it’s important to lock your vehicle doors, even if you’re only going to be away from it for a few minutes.

The boy’s body had been left outside a church in north Edmonton.
Mack had been granted day parole a couple of years ago, but had been ordered to avoid drugs.
She was arrested back in December, after testing positive for cocaine.

-Four people are facing a list of charges, after a number of firearms were stolen during a break-in at a business in Okotoks yesterday.
RCMP say they were called to the place around 3 in the morning, and managed to stop a truck that was leaving the area.
The suspects were arrested without a problem.

-Jays beat the Angels 12 to 11 yesterday. The Jays have today off, but their home opener is tomorrow against Detroit.
NBA:
-Raptors beat Milwaukee 121 to 105 yesterday.
-Canada takes on the U-S late this afternoon at the Women’s World Hockey Championship. Starts at 5.
-This is the final week of the regular season in the NHL, as the Flames host the Predators this evening.
Both teams are trying to catch the Jets for the final wildcard spot. The Jets are playing the Sharks tonight.
