-Boyle RCMP are working to determine the cause of a crash on Highway 63 north yesterday afternoon.
It happened at Township Road 712, when a car hit the back of a semi.
The woman driving the car died at the scene, while the truck driver was treated for minor injuries.

-Police are hoping someone might have footage, following the suspicious death of a man in north-central Edmonton yesterday morning.
They found the badly injured victim at 127th Avenue and 118th Street around 3:30am.
He was sent to the hospital, but died from his injuries.
Police are asking people to check their home security systems.

-4-H Canada has been forced to carry out an “organizational reset”, following a major cut in funding from Ag-Canada.
Interim CEO Hugh Maynard says they were forced to lay off seven staff members as a result of a 35-percent chop.
So far it hasn’t affected programming, but he says it will eventually.
He also says it may not long before they may be forced to reduce communications and complimentary programming.
He says they’re going to look at ways to expand partnerships in both the private and public sector, to keep forging ahead.

-Strathcona County is hosting the International Association of Firefighters this week.
They’re getting even more specialized training in fighting wildfires that burn where communities meet grasslands and forests, since those regions need a different approach and tools than blazes in cities.

-The city of Edmonton tossed a bunch of property tax notices in the mail this week.
An average home worth about 428-thousand dollars is going to pay more than 43-hundred dollars, after the city decided to hike property taxes by 8.9-percent.
They’re due at the end of June, but many residents opt for payment plans.

-St. Albert’s Downtown Business Association is hoping something will be done to fill commercial properties in that city’s core.
Officials with the group don’t want to go the same route as many other communities that have set up vacancy taxes, which kick in when buildings are boarded up for too long.
The vacancy rate for commercial buildings and office space in downtown St. Albert is about 7.44-percent right now.

-There’s been a lot of talk lately about setting up a transitional housing facility for young people in St. Albert.
The idea is already in Phase 2, where the city is going to look at a number of proposals.
Transitional housing would provide homeless young people with a place to stay while they’re set up with social supports, as they try to get into more permanent housing.

-Probably not a big surprise given the cost of everything, but a new report says more and more Canadians are only making a minimum payment on their credit cards these days.
Trans-Union Canada says millenials have the biggest share of the overall debt, but Gen Z saw their credit card and personal loan balances jump by about 30-percent since last year.

-When the Oilers burst out of the chute in the first period last night, it really looked like they were intent on winning.
Zach Hyman and Connor McDavid even had them leading 2-nothing going into the second..
But for some reason, the wheels fell off, and the Stars came from behind to win the game 5-3.
So the Stars are now leading the Western Conference Final 2-games to 1 and Game 4 is tomorrow night at Rogers Place.

-Jays beat the WhiteSox 5-1 yesterday.

TODAY/TONIGHT:

-The Eastern Conference Final continues this evening, as the Rangers are leading the Panthers 2-1 in that series. Puck drops at 6.

-Jays have another game against the White Sox at 5:40pm.

-ASIRT is investigating, following a police officer related shooting at a gas station in northeast Edmonton Saturday night.
The officer called for help after running into a man with a weapon at the entrance to the building, there was a confrontation, and the officer fired their weapon.
The suspect wound up with life-threatening injuries, and is still in the hospital.

-Wainwright RCMP are hoping the public can help them in their investigation, after someone took off with a safe from the ATB in the village of Chauvin early last Friday morning.
Mounties say a stolen Ford F350 was used to damage the building.
But while criminals managed to get the safe out of the place, it was found just down the road with all the money still inside.
The truck was found abandoned south of Chauvin, where the suspects were apparently picked up by a brown Dodge Ram.
Mounties say if anyone has footage of the area near the bank at the time of the break-in, they would like to hear from them.

-The people of Fort Nelson and the nearby First Nation were allowed to head back home this morning, a few weeks after they were forced out by two massive wildfires.
Rob Fraser is the Mayor of the RM of Northern Rockies, and says evacuation alerts are going to remain in place, in the event people need to leave again.
The fires destroyed four homes and badly damaged a few others.

-The death toll from those powerful storms in the American South keeps rising, as officials have now confirmed at least twenty people lost their lives when a series of tornadoes rolled through this past weekend.
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee-Sanders says the devastation is terrible.

-A boil water advisory that had been implemented for the town of Millet Friday afternoon was lifted Sunday.
A broken water-main forced the town to shut off the water, and once it was back on again, people were asked to boil all water for at least a minute before using it for drinking or washing food.

-The University of Calgary says it’s going to restart its oil and gas engineering program in the fall of next year.
Consistently low oil prices and mass layoffs in the energy sector led the university to stop admitting students to the program in 2021.
But since that time, University officials say oil prices have come back and energy companies are making money again.

-Lloydminster will be holding its Streetfest again next month.
Rec Programmer Sandra Brown says they could still use some vendors to take part on June 8th, and people can find out more at lloydminster.ca/streetfest.

-The Rangers are now leading the Panthers in the Eastern Conference Final, following a 5-4 overtime win yesterday.

-The Oilers are back home for Game 3 in their Western Conference Final series against the Stars. Puck drops at 6:30 this evening, as the series is tied 1-all. Gates to the fun in the ICE-District open at 5.

-Canada did not pick up a medal at the World Hockey Championship yesterday, as Sweden beat them 4-2 for the bronze. Czechia got the gold.

-Detroit beat the Jays 14-11 yesterday.
