-It’s solar eclipse day and thousands of people are looking forward to being part of the celestial event.
The sun will go directly behind the moon, which means it will be dusk-like in the middle of the day.
Parts of Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes will be in the path of totality and some people have spent thousands to be somewhere along that route.
Here in Alberta, we’re only getting a partial eclipse, but it’s still dangerous to look directly at it, unless you’re using special glasses or going to a place such as the Telus World of Science.
The eclipse will start around 11:54am in our province.

-The father of an 11-year old boy who died from a dog bite last week in Edmonton says the dogs blamed for that death had never been aggressive towards his son.
And Wesley Grist says Kache often cuddled on the couch with the animals, so he doesn’t know what happened, but he says contrary to the initial report, there was just one bite.
He says he can’t bring back his son, but he does want people to leave his roommate alone, as he says she’s been threatened.
He says he doesn’t blame her for what happened, and neither should anyone else.
Her dogs have been euthanized.

-St. Paul RCMP say a 49-year old woman who’d been taken against her will from a home in Saddle Lake last night was found safe this morning.
Mounties say someone had broken into the home and assaulted a couple there, before abducting the woman.
RCMP say they’re still looking for the suspect, whose described as a slender male with black hair and brown eyes, about 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds.
He’s considered violent and dangerous.

-Yesterday marked the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Rwanda, and some Edmontonians gathered in Churchill Square to pay tribute to the victims.
The genocide began in April of 1994, after the Rwandan President’s plane was shot down.
