-Wildfire officials had warned us that the season was far from over, and thousands of people found that out this weekend, as residents of Edson were told to leave as a fire got within 1.5km of the town’s southern boundary.
People may be out of their homes til at least Wednesday, if not longer.
The rest of Yellowhead County is on evacuation-alert.
-Residents of the Sweathouse region of the MD of Greenview are also out of their homes, along with those from the Fort Chipewyan region and parts of the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.
-Alerts are still in effect for some parts of Woodlands Country, some parts of Brazeau County and some parts of Grande Prairie County.

Officials with “Chemtrade” say it happened Thursday, while the victim was working on a maintenance building.
No other details have been released.
To mark the event, Grade 6 students from the Talmud Torah School in Edmonton are heading to Light Horse Park in Old Strathcona this afternoon to learn about Frank and the role the Canadian military had in liberating the Netherlands in World War 2.
They’ll be placing flowers at the base of Frank’s statue in the park.
-The Riders beat the Elks yesterday at Commonwealth Stadium in the Elks’ regular season opener. Score was 17-13. The Elks haven’t won a home game since October of 2019.
-A big comeback win for the Jays yesterday afternoon as they’d been trailing the Twins for most of the game. Then in the 8th inning, Cavan Biggio hit a three-run homer to help them beat Minnesota 7-6.
-Edmonton Riverhawks edged the Cowlitz Black Bears 2-1 yesterday.
-Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, BC won the Canadian Open yesterday, making him the first Canadian to do so in 69 years. He sank a 72-foot eagle putt on the 4th playoff hole to beat Tommy Fleetwood of England.
