Canada’s fastest growing population is over the age of 65 and rapidly becoming vulnerable to abuse that can rob older adults of their well-being and dignity. Elder Abuse can take on many forms, often with more than one type occurring at the same time, including Financial, Psychological, Emotional, Physical, Sexual or Medication Abuse and Neglect.
June 15th is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, and this year’s theme is “Grow the Conversation…Recognize the Signs, Reduce the Risks”. We’re planting the seed that action begins with you, recognize the signs, break the silence, and stop elder abuse.
The Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness Council has been a voice and advocate for seniors for over 20 years. If you, or a loved one are in need of help, the AEAAC has resources for your area, including:
