-Northern Alberta was the focus of last night’s telephone town-halls, on the idea of replacing the Canada Pension Plan with a provincial one.
Many people wanted to know if the pension would follow them if they move, to which the panel members said yes.
One person listening online asked the panel how they can guarantee the money will still be there in twenty years.
Panel member Moin Yahya said it’s a concern they will take to the province
But many Albertans are looking for a lot more information, concrete answers and transparency, before they make up their minds.
The next town-hall is October 24th, for southern Alberta.

-Looks like milk prices will be staying where they are.
There had been concerns they would be going up this fall, but late last week, the Dairy Farmers of Canada recommended the farm-gate price of milk remain at its current level.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers says it’s a good move, because people simply can’t afford to pay more for milk.

-The current conflict between Israel and Hamas is now the mostly deadly of all the Gaza wars, as more than 4-thousand people have died in the past 11 days.
The U-N is also condemning reports that Israeli airstrikes have killed civilians who were trying to get out of northern Gaza.
Those who have been able to leave, don’t have much in the way of water and food, and humanitarian trucks, are still stuck at the border between Gaza and Egypt.
The Israeli army says it wants to make sure the trucks don’t contain anything that could help Hamas.
Meanwhile, -it was confirmed this morning that six Canadians have died as a result of the attacks by Hamas.

-Some former NAIT students are in the running for a provincial award, after inventing a “smart” teddy-bear that can keep an eye on children while they’re sleeping.
The idea is to give parents a helping hand if the kids are having trouble snoozing, by monitoring movement, humidity and temperature.
If there are problems, the bear sends a notification to an app on the parent’s phone.
Health experts say when kids don’t get enough sleep, it can have a detrimental effect on their learning ability, not to mention behaviour.
