-The Alberta SPCA continues to investigate after they rescued a severely malnourished horse from a farm in Red Deer County last month.
Dan Kobe says Marvin was not in good shape when he was found:
..”The peace officer was called July 12th about a horse that appeared to be tangled up in some wire along a fence.
When he got there, it wasn’t that the horse was tangled up, he had just gone down right next to the fence and the peace officer thought he had actually died.
But then he noticed a slight twitch in an ear and realized that Marvin was still alive, but was very weak and couldn’t get up.
The officer immediately called for transportation to remove Marvin and the other animals from the property.
There was concern Marvin wouldn’t survive the trip, but he seemed to have a strong will to survive, so the peace officer has been investing time and energy to ensure Marvin is given every opportunity to survive.
And at this point, it looks like he’s going to make it. ”
Kobe says it will be some time before Marvin can be rehomed, but if you’d like to contribute to his care, you can do so through the Alberta SPCA website: albertaSPCA.org.
