When confirmation came down this morning that GM is closing its plant in Oshawa, Ontario—-a lot of workers just went home.
Four plants in the U-S are also being shut down—-because the company says it wants to focus on electric and autonomous vehicle programs.
Officials say it will save the company about 6-billion dollars in just a couple of years.
Staff is being cut by 15-percent—which works out to about 25-hundred workers at the plant.
Their union says they’re planning to fight the move—but it looks like the plant will be closed—possibly around this time next year. (photo credit–Canadian Press/Eduardo Lima)
