As promised—the Premier has come out with the first set of plans to get more value from Alberta’s resources….
Rachel Notley says the government is going to double support for petro chemical upgrading.
Its going to work out to about 2.1-billion dollars—-and is expected to help create more than 15-thousand jobs during construction of various facilities across the province—and another 1-thousand once they’re good to go.
Private sector investment is expected to be more than 20-billion—-and once the facilities are running—-are expected to generate about 284-million dollars a year.
“At the end of the day, the truth is—we can only count on ourselves–on our fellow Albertans to secure our economic future. So I’ll fight the pipeline battle until it is done. You can count on that. But at the same time, I have determined that we must take greater control of our own economic destiny.”
The government is planning to create a “short list” of proposed projects that demonstrate the best possible value for Albertans–and will start talking with the successful proponents behind them. (photo credit–Edmonton Journal/Postmedia)
