A professor with Dalhousie University says the quest for “convenient” food—is taking away from farmers.
Sylvain Charlebois says these days–about 40-percent of Canadians under the age of 38—eat out—at least twice a week.
He says if that continues–we’ll be spending about half our food budget on dining out.
Typically—farmers get about 20 to 25-percent of the cost of food you buy in a grocery store.
When you head to a restaurant—they only get about 4-percent.
He says most people probably don’t realize that—-so its something to consider.
