RCMP in Sherwood Park are coming out with more details about this week’s incident at the Strathcona County Community Centre.
Mounties now say the first explosion had been deliberately set under a pickup truck in the parkade–and the blast damaged about nine other vehicles.
They say the second explosion about two hours later–was a vehicle gas tank that blew up as a result of the fire from the first blast.
Police say they also found several firearms in the vehicle that belonged to suspect Kane Kosolowsky.
Among them–hunting rifles, shotguns and handguns.
And they’ve since confirmed that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The motive for everything however, is still a mystery.
Investigators have spoken with Kosolowsky’s family, friends and co-workers—and they all say the same thing—that there was no signs or indication anything was wrong or being planned.
They also don’t know if there was a specific target in mind.
RCMP aren’t looking for other suspects–but say this investigation is going to take much more time.
