“Give it to someone else.”
That’s what a national charity watchdog is recommending you do with your money—if you were planning to give it to a sports-linked charitable foundation.
“Charity Intelligence Canada” says charitable foundations that are linked with sports teams—-have bad records when it comes to transparency, overspending on fundraising plans—and putting most of the money into the hands of the actual charities.
For example—they say the Calgary Flames Foundation—only puts 30-cents of each dollar raised—towards a charitable cause.
“Charity Intelligence” says if you want to really make an impact–give the money to the United Way—-and tell them exactly what charity you want to help.
