The Barrhead and Area Regional Crime Coalition is hoping its new software will take a bite out of crime.
Its called “BARCC-Connect”—-where—if there’s been a crime or some kind of emergency—it will let subscribers to the system know about it—-in “real time.”
Barrhead Mayor Dave McKenzie says it would send an alert to your smart device–much like the Alberta Emergency system:
“There’s no cost to anybody who wants to register to this. The 3 municipalities are footing the bill for this system–and the annual fee that its charging. Again–with the municipalities–because we saw such value in it–not only from the crime part of it, but from getting information out from the municipalities to our residents–to be able to wrap that up into one workable system that all these stakeholders can utilize-makes it very user friendly from our perspective.”
If you’d like to sign up for the service—you can do so—at the Barrhead town office—along with the offices of the County of Barrhead–and Woodlands County.
