A busy day for the provincial Trade Minister.
Deron Bilous is in Washington State–where’s he’s talking to industries–about the importance of the TransMountain pipeline expansion…
And—he’s pushing back against the tariffs that have been placed on Canadian steel and aluminum being imported into the U-S.
He says there’s no point in waiting to see what the American President is going to do—-he says he and others have to work directly with businesses to make sure that trade still happens between our countries.
In the meantime–a LOT of American farmers say they dont want “aid” from their federal government to make up for payback tariffs from other countries.
What they want—-is free trade—with Canada–Mexico, the European Union and China.
The say the trade wars the U-S President has started—have stomped on commodity prices and markets—-and they want a return to normalcy.
Some Governors–say he’s resorting to “farm welfare”—-when farmers just want trade. (photo credit–PNWER)
