The Alberta government announced a new rural bus service pilot project to cover communities south of Red Deer along with those on the highway 3 corridor between Medicine Hat and Lethbridge. It’s similar to a pilot project announced recently in Camrose. Premier Notley says it’s important to find transit solution, with the demise of Greyhound services this fall. Greyhound is planning to end all passenger and freight service in western Canada, at the end of October. Notley says she and other premiers impacted are asking that the shutdown be delayed, so the provinces have time to come up with alternatives. The end of Greyhound service on the prairies, could impact as many as 2 million people.
