-As expected–the provincial government has introduced legislation that would give it the power needed to turn off the oil taps to BC—if need be. Premier Rachel Notley says its about protecting jobs and making sure Canadians are working:
“Alberta’s natural resources are owned by Albertans. But their benefits are shared by our partners in Confederation–across this country.”
Notley says Alberta didnt start this fight—but her government will do whatever it takes to get that pipeline built. If the legislation is passed–any company that exports energy products from Alberta–might have to apply for a licence. However–that will be determined by the Energy Minister.
-By the way—BC’s attorney-general is threatening to sue—if that bill is passed–and if gas prices in BC go through the roof. He actually said its “unconstitutional” for one province to use energy policy to punish another province….
