-A sad and perplexing story out of southern Alberta—as more than a dozen people–most of them little kids—had to be taken to the hospital with “flu like” symptoms yesterday. They were all from the Stoney Nakoda First Nation–west of Calgary. EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux says there were 15 patients–including a 4-month baby who had died by the time they got there:
“14 are pediatric, one adult was also transported to hospital. The rest of the patients who wound up in the hospital—are in stable condition. EMS is working to figure out what caused the problem–but for now–it appears to be of a medical nature.”
Officials say it doesnt look like carbon monoxide is to blame for what happened—and the whole thing is still being investigated.
