Heavy fog is partially blamed for that tragic accident north of Redwater yesterday.
RCMP Corporal Mark Joy told CBC–a gravel truck had slammed into the back of a schoolbus full of kids—on Opal Roal:
“Unfortunately, on scene–one student was deceased and its a very tragic incident–because we have such a small community here.”
No one else was hurt.
Residents who live north of Redwater say they arent surprised there was a deadly collision in the region.
Callers to our newsroom say gravel trucks are CONSTANTLY speeding through that area—-and believe it was just a matter of time—before someone was killed.
We’re not releasing the girl’s name out of respect to the family—-but staff and students at Thorhild Central School—are being provided with counsellors if they need someone to talk to. (photo credit–CTV Edmonton)
