At least one man would like to set up a gondola—to carry people across the river in Edmonton.
Gary Poliquin says he’d like to have an eight-car system that would connect the downtown to Old Strathcona—–and thats why he’s offered up the idea to the “Edmonton Project.”
Its a competition aimed at coming up with a new and unique city landmark.
The price tag would be steep—-anywhere from 30 to 300-million dollars—depending on what kind of gondola it would be—and how many stopping stations it would feature.
There are ten ideas in the running at the moment—including the world’s biggest treehouse, a food truck ferris wheel and an outdoor sauna.
A panel of judges is going to pick the winning entry—March 6th.
