Premier Rachel Notley had a very direct answer to a reporter’s request for a comment—after UCP leadership candidate Jason Kenney said its not up to the Premier to dictate how sex-ed is taught in the Catholic system.
Superintendents dont want to deal with homosexuality, contraception and consent—and so they’re working on a draft of their own sex-ed curriculum—-something Notley says will never be taught.
As for her comment regarding Jason Kenney:
“In my view–Jason Kenney is dead wrong. I have to say—in 2017–I didnt think I’d have to say this—but as the Premier of the province–its my obligation—and that is this: Being gay is not wrong–engaging in safe sex is not wrong–and under no circumstances is sex without consent ever right. And THAT is what will be taught in our schools.”
