Welcome to the start of “Socktober.”
Jimmy Morrison with the “Operation Friendship Seniors Society” says they’re hoping to collect 10-thousand pairs of socks—to help seniors in Edmonton’s inner-city:
“What people dont realize is how lucky they are to have a pair of socks or underwear—or warm winter items when it comes to the cold season. The thing with our seniors—is that most of them sleep on the streets at night. I cant even imagine sleeping one night sleep in the weather we have at times—let alone a whole season.”
So we’re hoping to help the group reach their goal.
You can drop off new socks throughout the month of October at CFCW at West Edmonton Mall -or you can take them to the Society on 106th Avenue and 95 Street
