A happy ending for a loon that was tangled in some fishing line near Shunda Lake last weekend.
Don Gibson and his son Carter saw the bird swimming towards them while they were on the dock—but it was acting strangely…
Not only was it tangled in the line—it also had a fishing hook in the back of its neck.
So Don waded into the water–picked up the loon—and were able to free it before putting him back on the water.
Don says before it swam away—it stopped and looked at him—-and then went back to four other loons watching from a distance. (photo credit–CBC/Don Gibson)
