Danny Hooper

Danny Hooper joined Sharon Mallon as co-host of the CFCW Morning Show back in 2006, but his ties to the 'Alberta' Country Legend' run much further back. In fact, Danny's father Don was a good friend of station legend Curley Gurlock, and together the two promoted Grand Ole Opry shows throughout Alberta back in the 50's and 60's.

Born in Edmonton and raised on a cattle ranch near Tomahawk, Danny was encouraged by his father to enter CFCW's first Country Star Search in 1975, and as a finalist in that competition, held on the Bonanza Stage at Klondike Days in between the log-sawing and kobasa-eating contests, was awarded a recording contract with Royalty Records of Canada.

The success of that first album lead to a Juno nomination, nine more albums, and  several regional hits, including the autobiographical 1995 favourite 'John Deere Tractor Keys.' Danny recently released a compilation CD called 'The Best of Danny Hooper', which features 18 of his most-requested songs.

Danny and Don owned and operated Edmonton's first exclusive country music nightclub, called Danny Hooper's Stockyard, from 1979 to 1986.

Danny has parlayed his unique gifts and talents, which include a razor-sharp wit and keen sense of humour, into an enormously successful career. Today, most of his time is consumed as a fundraising auctioneer and professional MC, boasting a blue-chip client list that includes the David Foster Foundation.

Danny has two grown children who both live in B.C. He is a licensed pilot whose hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, running, riding his Harley Davidson, and spending time at his home in Osoyoos, B.C.
