Big announcement for Camrose this morning…..as the province said its going to replace the Chester Ronning School.
Premier Rachel Notley was on hand for that:
“The existing school is getting to the point where the cost of repair and upkeep just doesnt make sense. The mechanical system, the electrical and the boiler are nearing the end of their lifecycle–and while the builidng is safe—a new school is needed to make sure that future kids remain safe–and are able at the same time to remain in a building where longterm costs can be kept down.”
Notley says the new school will be state of the art with bright new learning spaces, a new library and a new gymnasium—AND will be energy-efficient.
It should be ready for students in 2022–2023.
