Reports are now coming out that the dog’s owner had been told before she even got onto the plane that the carrier had to fit under the seat. When she got on board—it didnt—and was apparently given a few options—-to either spend a little more money for another seat–so the carrier could be on a seat beside her– she could be re-booked on another flight where they could make sure the carrier could fit under a seat–or she could get a hard-sided carrier and have the dog put in cargo. She chose none of those options.
Still—no one offered to help—and the dog was still shut inside an overhead bin that obviously had no air.
-This is just sickening. A dog died on a United Airlines flight this past Monday—because a flight attendant forced the owner to put the dog in its carrier—in an overhead bin. Those carriers are designed to be placed under the seats in front of you. Why no one said anything—is unbelievable. The airline has apologized and refunded the owner’s money. Its not the first time an animal has died on that airline. 18 last year alone.
