The city of Edmonton is kicking off a pilot project that officials hope will help get more lost cats back to their families.
They’re offering free microchips for anyone who buys a pet licence.
Then if someone finds your cat—-they can be scanned at the Humane Society, Animal Care and Control—-or any vet’s office.
Something like 4-thousand cats are taken in every year—-and only about 16-percent ever make it home—because they dont have ID.
The micro-chipping program is going to run until June—and you can take your cat to Animal Care and Control to be micro-chipped during clinics on the last Thursday of every month.
They’re at 13550-163rd Street–and the phone number is 780-442-5311.
