A group of residents are pushing to have Highway 628 changed back to an asphalt road thats maintained on a regular basis.
Its used as a commuter road to Edmonton–and sees a large amount of traffic everyday.
Residents say not long ago—-it was torn up—and replaced as a gravel road….
But—the group says its dangerous–its too narrow–and full of washboards and potholes.
In some areas—there arent any shoulders.
When summer rolls around—you cant see through all the dust.
There have been several complaints to the province——-but the Transportation department says the route isnt in their 3-year plan for improvements….
Just this past July—a young man and a horse were both killed in an accident on that road…
In order to prevent more deaths—the residents have a petition that they’re planning to present to the Transportation Minister.
And they’ve already got more than 2-thousand names….
