Alberta Health officials are coming out with a few more details concerning that Diphtheria case at a north Edmonton school.
One student has been diagnosed with the illness–in THIS case—the cutaneous form.
Thats a skin infection…..
The student goes to Evansdale Elementary—-and health officials say they’ve been in contact with what they’re calling a “small group” of people who may have had close contact with that student.
But—no other cases at this point—-and experts say the risk–is “extremely low.”
That being said–they’re still advising that parents get their kids immunized.
Some students are being kept at home until they’ve been given the all clear—as they still have a slight chance of developing diphtheria—even with immunization.
