The province is providing a grant to the city of Edmonton—to help build the southeast leg of the Valley Line LRT.
Back in 2014–the funding was considered an interest-free loan.
Now its being converted into a 176-million dollar grant–with the money coming from the carbon tax.
Transportation Minister Brian Mason says its expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 45-hundred metric tonnes a year.
That works out to almost 1-thousand vehicles off the road.
