You can sure tell that fall and the municipal elections are in the air…..
Not only is it getting dark earlier—-but we’re starting to see election signs—-and people are getting more phone calls.
At least in the city of Edmonton—-no one is allowed to put up a “vote for me” sign on PUBLIC property—until Labour Day…
They also cant be near intersections—they’ve got to be 3-meters from a curb—they cant be in traffic circles—and cant be up along major routes like the Henday or Yellowhead as an example.
As for private property—you need the homeowner or landowner’s permission.
Candidates who break the rules—-bylaw officers are going to be cracking down—which means you could be looking at a 2-hundred 50 dollar fine—for every sign that ISNT where it should be.
And–they’ll take it down—so there’s a waste of money.
Municipal election happens October 16th.
